Ophthalmic Optics/Optometry

(Goethe) Vision is one of the most important of the human senses.  To meet the challenges of continuously expanding demands upon human sight, an innovative, practical and well-grounded competence in these fields is necessary. The dual structure of the program guarantees outstanding competence in the craft. The practical qualification with journeyman's certification follows academic qualification in optometry. This future oriented dual course of study can only become more relevant as life-expectancies continue to increase. The additional medical component in the course of study expands potential professional choices considerably.

 

 

 

Bioengineering

Bioengineering is a highly application-specific, interdisciplinary study of engineering with a strong focus on biology.  Bioengineers apply the tools of traditional engineering disciplines such as mechanics, materials engineering, metronics and control engineering as well as process technology to the solution of problems in the fields of bioengineering. The course of study offers a thorough education in both the natural sciences as well as engineering basics, in order to make clear the essential connections and thus develop the necessary flexibility to master the rapidly evolving field and new technical developments. The effect of bioengineering on the environment and society are also analyzed to permit recognition and constructive solutions to problems before they arise.

 

 

 

Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering is an interdisciplinary course of study which transfers knowledge of practical engineering and the methodology of the natural sciences. The content of the study is only partially predetermined, permitting students to set their own area(s) of concentration. The personal interests and career goals of the students are so best met. Study at the student's own pace in the additional fields of classical engineering such as hydraulics, energy and thermodynamic engineering, device engineering, metronics as well as the simulation technology is encouraged. The practical aspects of the course of study are enriched with knowledge from the areas of business administration and the development of social and communication skills in solving complex, interdisciplinary problems.

 

 

 

Mechatronics/Precision Engineering

Mechatronics/Precision Engineering is a field of study encompassing many aspects of engineering and natural sciences . Mechanical, optical, electronic, IT and other areas of knowledge must be mastered in order to develop intelligent, miniaturized products. Mechatronic products are complete, intelligent systems. The combination of electronics, software and precision engineering have led to completely new technical solutions. Mechatronics is expanding at a great rate. No device, no machine, no system of the coming future will be produced without application of this cost and resource saving technology. An additional concentration in apparatus engineering and medical engineering are offered within the course of study.

 

 

 

Engineering Physics

„Physics is the one group of experimental science, based upon measurable terms, such terms and phrases can be constructed mathematically.“ Albert Einstein (1940). Engineering physics is the application of abstract physics to useful and environmentally sound processes and products. The course of study instructs not only in theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills. The student learns to think analytically, but to find solutions using only available resources and to work within teams. This course of study is broader than classical engineering. Graduates are thus equipped to work in precisely those challenging areas in which the transfer from research to practical application is done.

The global development of the markets has resulted in a need for completely new frameworks  to meet the challenges of designing production and logistics for processes applied globally. The continuing changes in industrial labor lead to constant change in globally based productions systems. This course of study provides a solid footing in the natural sciences, engineering knowledge in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, IT and robotics. In-depth know-how in all the essential areas of production (planning, control and quality assurance) is an important aspect of the program. Interdisciplinary qualifications (business administration, management techniques, law) add the necessary balance to this course of study.

The global development of the markets has resulted in a need for completely new frameworks  to meet the challenges of designing production and logistics for processes applied globally. The continuing changes in industrial labor lead to constant change in globally based production systems.  Awareness of the global aspects of the economy and international professional experience during the course of study are of great value. The integrated study of engineering which is provided with the partner university Ecole Polytechnique Fondation (EPF) in Sceaux, by Paris  offers this highly relevant experience. Studies are undertaken in both Munich and Paris. This consecutive Masters graduate course of study is designed to mesh perfectly with the undergraduate course of study in Production and Automation.
